On November 21, 2022, The Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Yemi Osinbajo met with Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland to discuss areas in which both countries need a closer collaboration, as a part of his 3-day visit to Canada.

Their conversations bordered on improving trade, deepening ongoing educational collaboration, continuing dialogue on the global energy transition issues and climate change.

VP Osinbajo also used the opportunity to speak on Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan and a proposal to adopt gas, which Nigeria has in large quantities, during the transition to a greener World. This notion garnered traction at the recent COP27 conference in Egypt, but is still widely unacknowledged in the West.
